1 Samuel 16:1-24

โ€œThe Lord said to Samuel, โ€œHow long will you grieve for Saul, when I have rejected him as king over Israel? Fill your horn with oil and go; I will send you to Jesse the Bethlehemite, for I have chosen a king for Myself among his sons.โ€ But Samuel said, โ€œHow can I go? When Saul hears about it, he will kill me.โ€ And the Lord said, โ€œTake a heifer from the herd with you and say, โ€˜I have come to sacrifice to the Lord.โ€™ You shall invite Jesse to the sacrifice, and I will show you what you shall do [after that]; and you shall anoint for Me the one whom I designate.โ€ So Samuel did what the Lord said, and came to Bethlehem. And the elders of the city came trembling to meet him and said, โ€œDo you come in peace?โ€ And he said, โ€œIn peace; I have come to sacrifice to the Lord. Consecrate yourselves and come with me to the sacrifice.โ€ He also consecrated Jesse and his sons and invited them to the sacrifice. So it happened, when they had come, he looked at Eliab [the eldest son] and thought, โ€œSurely the Lordโ€™s anointed is before Him.โ€ But the Lord said to Samuel, โ€œDo not look at his appearance or at the height of his stature, because I have rejected him. For the Lord sees not as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.โ€ Then Jesse called Abinadab and had him pass before Samuel. But Samuel said, โ€œThe Lord has not chosen this one either.โ€ Next Jesse had Shammah pass by. And Samuel said, โ€œThe Lord has not chosen him either.โ€ Jesse had seven of his sons pass before Samuel. But Samuel said to Jesse, โ€œThe Lord has not chosen [any of] these.โ€ Then Samuel said to Jesse, โ€œAre all your sons here?โ€ Jesse replied, โ€œThere is still one left, the youngest; he is tending the sheep.โ€ Samuel said to Jesse, โ€œSend word and bring him; because we will not sit down [to eat the sacrificial meal] until he comes here.โ€ So Jesse sent word and brought him in. Now he had a ruddy complexion, with beautiful eyes and a handsome appearance. The Lord said [to Samuel], โ€œArise, anoint him; for this is he.โ€ Then Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed David in the presence of his brothers; and the Spirit of the Lord came mightily upon David from that day forward. And Samuel arose and went to Ramah. Now the Spirit of the Lord departed from Saul, and an evil spirit from the Lord tormented and terrified him. Saulโ€™s servants said to him, โ€œBehold, an evil spirit from God is tormenting you. Let our Lord now command your servants who are here before you to find a man who plays skillfully on the harp; and when the evil spirit from God is on you, he shall play the harp with his hand, and you will be well.โ€ So Saul told his servants, โ€œFind me a man who plays well and bring him to me.โ€ One of the young men said, โ€œBehold, I have seen a son of Jesse the Bethlehemite who is a skillful musician, a brave and competent man, a warrior, discerning (prudent, eloquent) in speech, and a handsome man; and the Lord is with him.โ€ So Saul sent messengers to Jesse and said, โ€œSend me David your son, who is with the flock.โ€ Jesse took a donkey [loaded with] bread and a jug of wine and a young goat, and sent them to Saul with David his son. Then David came to Saul and attended him. Saul loved him greatly and [later] David became his armor bearer. Saul sent word to Jesse, saying, โ€œPlease let David be my attendant, for he has found favor in my sight.โ€ So it came about that whenever the [evil] spirit from God was on Saul, David took a harp and played it with his hand; so Saul would be refreshed and be well, and the evil spirit would leave him.โ€

Supernatural Woman, Rosina Akinola is the founder of Save Our Families Incorporated non-profit organization for families who have lost loved ones due to violence. We are taking back our joy, by the Blood of Jesus. My oldest son Sidney Maurice Jackson Jr. was robbed and murdered on November 21, 2015. He was 19 years old, 6 months away for getting his Associates Degree in Business Management. He was also a new father, who was gunned down one day before his son Jaiden turned one month old November 22, 2015. Sidney was taken from us two days before my 37th birthday November 23rd. Sidney made one bad choice, which, cost him his life. I didnโ€™t find out until he was dead and gone. And by that time it was too late and I didnโ€™t want to hear it. Knoxville, Tennessee is a small city that is dying slowly. This city has lost so many young men and women due to senseless violence. There are so many families hurting as a whole. No one ever realizes that the mothers arenโ€™t the only ones hurting. The Fathers, siblings, cousins, aunts, uncles, grandparents and friends hurt as well. But, everyone grieves differently, because of their own personal relationship with the deceased loved one. But, most of all our youth hurt the most. They do not know how to handle grief at all. Weโ€™ve got to be more careful, when it comes to them. They will become severely depressed right in front of your eyes without you knowing it. How can I say this? Well, itโ€™s because it happened to me. I was so wrapped up in the loss of Sidney, two months to the date January 21, 2016 I almost lost my only daughter to suicide. I had to learn the hard way. Iโ€™m trying to prevent other families, from experiencing the same things my family has experienced. I want to be the voice for the mothers who are hurting too badly to SPEAK UP and SPEAK OUT. Iโ€™m trying to help families stay together and support each other. So, many families fall apart after the loss of a family member, especially a child. The Lord is my strengthโ€ฆ
